Key Programming - Keys for the vehicles we recover
A repossessed vehicle often arrives with no working key. PRI's in-house locksmith team cuts and programs hundreds of keys a month — smart keys, proximity fobs, and transponders — right at our lot, so no-key collateral moves on to transport, auction, or sale without a dealer trip.
What we handle - A key programmed at the lot beats a dealer tow
Without a working key, a recovered vehicle means extra tows, dealer scheduling, storage delays, and missed auction windows. We close that gap in-house.
- All-keys-lost service. We identify the key system, obtain authorized security information, cut the emergency blade where applicable, and program a working key — even when nothing came with the car.
- Smart keys and proximity fobs. Push-to-start vehicles across major manufacturers, including late-model vehicles with secure immobilizer systems.
- Transponder and remote-head keys. Cut to factory code through authorized channels — no guesswork.
- Immobilizer procedures. Registration, resets, and security access through the proper OEM or professional diagnostic path.
- Verified before release. Start, lock and unlock, remote functions, and the emergency key are checked before the vehicle is released or transported.
- NASTF VSP credentialed. Our locksmiths are credentialed through the NASTF Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) Registry — the vetting program automakers rely on for access to key codes and immobilizer data.
- Documented key transactions. Every key-code transaction is completed on the appropriate NASTF D1 authorization form — including the dedicated Repossession/Recovery D1, backed by the executed repossession order — and kept on file.
- Built for lender files. Authorization, identification, and results are documented the same way as the rest of our recovery chain of custody.

FAQ - Common questions from lenders
Is key work included with every repossession?
Key evaluation is part of intake at our lot. When a recovered unit arrives without a working key, we let you know and quote the replacement — pricing depends on the key type and vehicle platform.
What authorization do you need?
The executed repossession order from the bank or authorizing party. It backs the NASTF Repossession/Recovery D1 authorization form we complete and keep on file for every key-code transaction.
Can you make keys for a vehicle you didn’t repossess?
No. Our locksmith service is limited to vehicles recovered through PRI’s repossession operation — it isn’t a retail or outside-dealer service.
Which vehicles can you cover?
Most major domestic and Asian platforms, and select European vehicles. Exact coverage depends on model year, immobilizer system, module condition, and OEM access requirements.
Key origination is performed only with documented lienholder authorization under NASTF's Positive Identification policy.
Have collateral to recover?
Send us the address where you believe the vehicle is located and we'll confirm coverage and next steps.
